Profile
Ian is an senior prosecutor who prosecutes in both the summary and indictable jurisdictions in both the District and High Courts. Ian began his legal career in 2001 as a corporate lawyer specialising in mergers and acquisitions at Rudd Watts & Stone in Auckland. He was admitted to the bar in 2002.
Since joining Meredith Connell in 2003, he has acted for various Government Departments in relation to a number of specialised prosecutions, including:
The Accident Compensation Corporation;
Medsafe – prosecutions under the Medicines Act;
Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries;
The Department for Courts; and
The Commerce Commission – Fair Trading matters.
Ian has also acted in the civil arena providing advice to entities such as District Health Boards and private companies.
In the criminal sphere, Ian has conducted a number of jury trials and has developed a particular interest in fraud cases. In April 2008, Ian rejoined the Commerce Commission team and will focus on Fair Trading, CCCFA and Commerce Act matters, both in the District and High Courts.
