Ian prosecutes cases on behalf of the Crown, the Police and the Commerce Commission in both the District and High Courts. He began his legal career in 2001 as a corporate lawyer specialising in mergers and acquisitions at Rudd Watts & Stone in Auckland and was admitted to the Bar in 2002.
Since joining our firm in 2003, Ian has acted for various government departments in relation to a number of specialised prosecutions, including: The Accident Compensation Corporation; Medsafe – prosecutions under the Medicines Act; Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries; The Department for Courts and The Commerce Commission on fair trading matters.
Ian has also acted in the civil arena providing advice to entities such as District Health Boards and private companies. In the criminal sphere, Ian has conducted a number of jury trials and has developed a particular interest in fraud cases. In April 2008, Ian rejoined the Commerce Commission team to focus on Fair Trading and Commerce Act matters, both in the District and High Courts.
