Christine Gordon SC has been a Partner in the firm's criminal practice group since October 1987. She has appeared for the Crown in many major criminal trials since then. She also has particular expertise in the area of extradition law.
In 1997, she was appointed by the Solicitor-General to the panel of Serious Fraud Office Prosecutors.
In 2001, she was appointed by the British Government as Deputy Public Prosecutor for the Pitcairn Islands. In this role she assisted the Public Prosecutor during the investigation and prosecution of 12 men for historic sexual offending. The trials led to convictions which were ultimately affirmed by the Privy Council in October 2006.
In October 2008, she was called to the Inner Bar and appointed Senior Counsel or SC.
Sample Mandates
Some of the cases which Ms Gordon has lead as Senior Counsel for the Crown include Bert Potter (sexual offending in the Centrepoint community), the Choy homicide (a group of young offenders including the youngest person ever to be charged with murder in New Zealand in relation to the killing of pizza delivery worker, Michael Choy), Operation Bestland (body found in suitcase in Waitemata Harbour) and Operation Manukau (murder of Joanne Wang in the Manukau City carpark).
