John has advised public and private entities in both the UK and New Zealand since the early 1990s and acts on behalf of private companies, fundraising institutions, individuals and government departments dealing with a wide range of commercial, property finance and construction projects.

John specialises in corporate structuring and has extensive experience in advising resident and overseas investors on structuring and acquiring significant assets in New Zealand and (alongside local counsel) Australia and Fiji.

Sample Mandates

John advised the government on the $200M underwrite of the Eden Park redevelopment for Rugby World Cup 2011 and the associated restructuring of the Eden Park Trust Board.

John acted for an overseas private equity fund on a $300M transaction involving multiple sites in Queenstown, New Zealand.

John advised a private equity firm in relation to acquisitions of various hotel and development sites in Australia and the Pacific Rim.

John acts for a number of listed and unlisted entities on a range of commercial law issues.
