Richard Marchant

Richard is Chairman of Partners for Meredith Connell and a Senior Partner in our Criminal Practice Group. He has more than 25 years’ experience as a Crown Prosecutor, having started with the firm in 1985.
Richard was made a Partner in 1995 and was responsible for all District Court Jury Trial work emanating from the Otahuhu District Court.
In 2000, when the Manukau District Court was opened, Richard set up the Meredith Connell Manukau office which now consists of 20 lawyers.
In 2007 he was briefed by the Tongan Government – along with Simon Moore – to prosecute the murder trials arising out of the riots in Nukualofa in November of that year.
Richard became Chairman of the Board of Meredith Connell in 2008 and continues to be involved in prosecuting serious crime under Simon Moore's warrant.
