Simon Moore SC

Simon Moore SC is the Crown Solicitor for Auckland and a Partner at Meredith Connell. He was appointed Crown Solicitor in 1994 following the retirement of his predecessor, the late Honourable Justice David Morris.

His Warrant covers the greater Auckland area and as such he has overall responsibility for the prosecution of all indictable crime in the region.

He has appeared for the Crown on most of the major criminal trials in the Auckland region over the last two decades.

In 2001 the British Government appointed him Public Prosecutor for Pitcairn Island. In this role he was responsible for the oversight of the investigation and prosecution of 12 men for historic sexual offending. The trials led to convictions which were ultimately affirmed by the Privy Council in October 2006.

In 2007 he was briefed by the Tongan Government to prosecute the murder trials arising out of the riots in Nukualofa in November of that year.

In 2008 he was appointed General Counsel to the Eden Park Redevelopment Board in anticipation of the Rugby World Cup 2011.

In October of the same year he was called to the Inner Bar and appointed Senior Counsel or SC.
