This practice area includes ‘criminal sessions’ work undertaken under the Crown Warrant in the greater Auckland area. Such matters require the firm to conduct the prosecution of indictable criminal matters in both the Auckland High Court and the various District Courts in the Auckland region. This work is carried out by Crown lawyers who prosecute mainly jury trials relating to serious violence, fraud, drugs and sexual matters.
In addition, Meredith Connell undertakes criminal prosecutions on behalf of other government agencies. These include WINZ, CYFS, Internal Affairs, Health, Immigration, Commerce Commission, SFO and others.
