Competition
The firm has extensive experience in Commerce Act (competition law) proceedings, primarily cartel cases. Those include the investigations and litigation against the international cartels for air freight and gas insulated switchgear. In those two cases, the firm acts for New Zealand's competition regulator, the Commerce Commission, in large civil proceedings in the High Court.
Both partners in the firm's Commerce Act practice, John Dixon and Nick Flanagan, have studied competition law at leading United States universities, and spoken at conferences on cartel enforcement. They also have extensive experience advising commercial clients on competition law issues, including restrictive trade practices and mergers and acquisitions.
