The Crown Warrant
The Crown Warrant has played a central role in the history and development of Meredith Connell.
The venerable and important tradition of the Crown Warrant calls on the holder to prosecute all indictable crime in a particular district on behalf of the Crown in accordance with the Crown Solicitors Regulations 1994.
The Warrant is held by an individual, independent legal practitioner who, as Crown Solicitor, bears the responsibility for its execution, namely the conduct of indictable trials in the High Court and District Court.
The Crown Solicitor operates under the supervision and authority of the Solicitor-General, with assistance from the Deputy Solicitor-General (criminal law) in relation to prosecutions.
The appointment of a Crown Solicitor is through the recommendation of the Attorney-General and by warrant of the Governor-General.
Simon Moore was appointed the Crown Solicitor for Auckland in 1994. He was appointed to the Inner Bar as Senior Counsel in 2008.
